Ashley stumbled upon yoga as an alternative to exercise back in 2008. She was instantly hooked. It became a passion for her when she saw the many perks that came with it. Ashley had more energy, was able to be more present and had a renewed outlook on life. In the midst of transitions; newly married, a new house, and a job transfer, Ashley leaned more and more on yoga to help her through the chaos that is life. Ashley founded Southern Charm Yoga in 2014 so she could continue to spread the joy that yoga brings her.
Ashley completed her yoga training in 2012 at PIES Fitness Studio, Alexandria, VA under the guidance of Yiser Ra Hotep Lawrence. In addition, she completed her prenatal yoga training in 2014 at Enlightened Yoga, Charlotte, NC under Amani Murray Yoga.
As a former special needs teacher, Ashley understands the importance of movement for all bodies young, old and everywhere in between. While living in the DC area, Ashley worked at a small school that recognized the benefits of incorporating movement as well as brain balance and sensory integration into their curriculum. Ashley was often able to combine her love of teaching on and off the mat. While Ashley is no longer instructing in the classroom, she keeps busy with her three boys at home. Ashley continued her yoga practice throughout her pregnancies and attributes yoga to healthy pregnancies, fast deliveries and smooth postpartum recovery.
Ashley has experience teaching adult Vinyasa classes; beginner to advanced, kid’s yoga, prenatal/postpartum and mom and me. Ashley welcomes you to try a class and see what her unique experience can do for your personal yoga practice!
